About Nicole

Nicole Maggi is the author of the National Park Mystery Series that began with A MURDER IN ZION (2025) and continues with LOST IN YELLOWSTONE (2026). Inspired by her love of the National Parks and obsession with true crime, the National Park Mysteries follow Special Agent Emme Helliwell of the Investigative Services Branch of the National Park Service as she investigates crimes in the breathtaking landscapes and wilds of our national parks.

Nicole’s previous novels include THE FORGETTING, a 2016 International Thriller Writers Thriller Award Finalist, a 2015 Junior Library Guild selection and a #1 Kindle Bestseller, as well as the author of WHAT THEY DON’T KNOW (Sourcebooks 2018), which Booklist called “an engaging, emotional debate on rape and abortion.” Nicole’s debut, the YA fantasy series THE TWIN WILLOWS TRILOGY (Medallion Press 2014), was called “reminiscent of Twilight and Harry Potter” by VOYA. In addition, she penned the non-fiction middle-grade book HIDDEN WONDERS (Lonely Planet Kids 2019).

Nicole graduated with a BFA from Emerson College, where she majored in acting. After a decade in NYC performing in much off-off-Broadway Shakespeare, she and her husband hightailed it to sunny Los Angeles, where they now reside surrounded by fruit trees.

When she’s not writing, Nicole is plotting her next escape to a National Park (bucket list item: visit them all) or volunteering with her daughter’s Girl Scout troop (favorite cookie: Samoas).
