I know what it’s like to be deep in the editing cave, hopped up on coffee and chocolate, ugly-crying because I’ve just realized I have to cut entire swaths of my manuscript in order to make the story work.

I’ve been a freelance editor for several years, and have worked with critique groups for 20 years. I’ve helped many authors cross the finish line with their books.

I offer more than just notes.

My freelance editing services include a comprehensive read of your manuscript with in-line notes, an editorial letter, and a 1-hour follow-up phone or video call. My goal is to make your manuscript as strong as possible.

I also offer mentoring for pre-published and early-career authors. Publishing is a crazy business that can throw a lot of curve balls at authors, and oftentimes publishers aren’t very transparent about that. I love to help new authors navigate the twists and turns with compassionate and realistic advice.

Reasonable Rates

Rates start at $20 per 1000 words for a developmental edit and $22 per 1000 words for line edits. Please note that my services do not include copyedits. General turnaround time time is 4-6 weeks depending on manuscript length.
